My Own Entrepreneurial Journey

I came of age during the global financial crisis under the illusion that I would become the world’s best investment banker. Except I didn’t know what an investment banker did.

By the end of my first summer, I had quit and moved to Costa Rica. Three weeks later I started the world’s first renewable energy and sustainability focused study abroad company. Two years after that, we had 500 students each season, millions in revenue, and expansion plans that eventually covered 5 continents.

And then I failed at 3 back to back start-ups, got embroiled in a legal battle, and had to find a job that ultimately retrained my mind to become an analytical powerhouse. And so for this chapter, I hold gratitude.

With my exit winnings, I purchased my first single family home. Three years later I had over 50 units. I met the love of my life with whom I gladly moved to the other side of the country. I knew no one, so I started the Best Ever Conference, which grew into the largest real estate retail investing conference in the country.

From there, my new partnership built a $500M self-storage portfolio from scratch and a series of operating businesses to support it. And following, a novel development company with a $50M pipeline.

But the grand realization came when I realized I cared more about the people on the team and their lives being well lived, full of purpose and joy, then I did about the typical success metrics of an entrepreneur. Coaching my team and watching so many of them flourish into their own entrepreneurs became a joy unmatched by the thrill of the deal. Over half a decade was spent devouring leadership programs, strategic planning frameworks, operational paradigms, and coaching methodologies.

At this stage of my career, I lift up Business Owners, Real Estate Investors, Inc 5000 Executives, and Franchise Owners to reach their next level of success in business, investing, and life.
